Types of Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga
Translation: eight-limbed yoga. Seeks to cleanse the mind and body through 8 spiritual practices.
Bikram Yoga
Created by Bikram Choudhury. Also called "Hot Yoga," it is practiced in a heated room.
Hatha Yoga
Created by Yogi Swatmarama in the 15th Century. Hatha yoga represents opposing energies, and seeks to balance the mind and body through physical exercise, controlled breathing, and meditation.
Iyengar Yoga
This type of Yoga is based on teachings by B.K.S Igengar and concentrates on the correct alignment and form of the body.
Prenatal Yoga
Specifically intended as a means of exercise for pregnant women. Breathing and relaxation exercises also help women face the physical demands of childbirth.
Raja Yoga
Also known as Classical Yoga, it is one of the six orthodox schools of Hindu philosophy.
Sahaja Yoga
